Needs fixing versus Check pin

The two kinds of flagged location, what each one means about the address, and which to deal with first.

Last updated

A location's Status on the Locations list tells you what happened when Nearmio tried to place it.

Placed

The address was looked up and placed with confidence. This is what you want, and it is what most addresses get first time.

Placed (manual)

You dragged the pin and pressed Confirm pin location. The pin is locked where you put it. See Fixing a pin that landed wrong.

Needs fixing

The address could not be placed at all. The location has no pin and is not on your storefront map. Typical causes: a street that is not in the map data, a new development, a PO box, or an address where the city and postcode disagree. These are the ones to fix first, because shoppers cannot see them.

Check pin

The address was placed, but not confidently. The pin is on the map, roughly right, but one of these was true:

  • Only the city or postcode centre could be found, not the street. Common when the street name is misspelled or the house number does not exist.
  • The result's region or country does not match what you typed.
  • The address was too thin to be sure — a city and country with no street, for example.

Open the location and look at the map. If the pin is on the store, confirm it. If not, drag it or correct the address.

Pending

The location was saved and is waiting its turn to be placed — you will see this briefly during a large import. It clears on its own.

Counting them

Both Needs fixing and Check pin count towards the Needs attention tile and filter on Locations. A results file from an import counts only the failed ones under need fixing; low-confidence rows show up in the filter afterwards.
