For a handful of stores, or the odd new stockist, add them one at a time. For a whole spreadsheet, use Importing locations from a CSV instead.
Step 1 — Open the form
On Locations, press Add location.
Step 2 — Store details
- Name — the only required field. Use the name a shopper would recognise: "Hardware Haus, Fitzroy", not an internal code.
- Phone, Website — shown on the location's card on the map, when filled in.
- Hours — plain text, shown as typed. "Mon–Fri 9–5" is fine. Nearmio does not work out "open now".
- Tags — comma-separated, for example
flagship, authorized-dealer. Tags power the store-type dropdown on the map. See Tags and the store-type filter.
Step 3 — Address
Fill in Address line 1, City, State / region, Postcode and Country. Country defaults to your shop's country.
Address line 2 is for a suite or unit number. It is shown to shoppers but ignored when placing the pin, so it never pulls a pin off course.
The more complete the address, the more accurately it is placed. Street plus city plus country, or postcode plus country, is the minimum Nearmio will try to place.
Step 4 — Optional: paste a Google Maps link
If you have the store's Google Maps page open, paste its URL into Paste a Google Maps link. Press Use to check it. One of two things happens:
- "Exact spot found — we'll use it on save." The link contains coordinates, so the pin goes exactly there with no address lookup at all.
- "No coordinates in that link — we'll geocode the address." Short links such as
maps.app.goo.gl/…carry no coordinates. The link is still saved, and the pin is placed from the address.
Either way the link becomes the View on Google button on the location's card. More in Google Maps links and listings.
Step 5 — Save
Press Add location in the title bar. Nearmio places the pin as it saves and takes you back to the list with a "Location saved" message.
Check it worked
The new row's Status column should read Placed. If it reads Needs fixing or Check pin, the address was not enough to place it confidently — see Fixing a pin that landed wrong. Only placed locations appear on the storefront map.
