Asking Shopify Sidekick about your locations

Sidekick can check whether a store is on your map, list the pins that need fixing, and explain what a CSV needs. Read-only, with your consent each time.

Nearmio gives Shopify's Sidekick assistant four things it can look up for you. Ask Sidekick in plain words, anywhere in your Shopify admin.

What you can ask

  • "Is the Geelong store on my map?" — Sidekick searches your locations by name, address, postcode, tag or your own id, and says whether each match is on the map, needs fixing or is still pending, with a link to edit it.
  • "Which locations need fixing?" — the same list as Needs attention, with the reason for each and a link to the fix queue.
  • "What does Nearmio need to import my stores?" — the columns, accepted header names, validation rules and limits, plus how many locations you have against your plan. Useful before you hand Sidekick a spreadsheet to check.
  • "How do I add the map to my theme?" — Sidekick searches this help center and answers from the matching article, with a link to it.

Check a spreadsheet before you import

This is the one to use when your stockist list is in a different layout from Nearmio's template: an export from a wholesale platform, a CRM, or a spreadsheet someone else started.

  1. Open Sidekick in your Shopify admin and attach the file.
  2. Ask: "Check this file against what Nearmio needs to import my stores."
  3. Sidekick tells you which of your columns map to which Nearmio column, which columns it could not place, and which rows are missing something (a country, coordinates, a name).
  4. Ask it to "write the rows out in Nearmio's layout" and it gives you the rows as CSV in the template's column order. Paste them into a new file, or into the template, and upload it on Import from CSV.

The preview on the import page is still the final word: it shows every row as new, update, duplicate or invalid before anything is committed. See Importing locations from a CSV.

What it cannot do

These are read-only. Sidekick cannot add, change or delete locations through Nearmio, and it cannot change your plan. For those, use the app.

Consent

The first time Sidekick wants to use a Nearmio tool in a conversation, it asks you to allow it. Nothing is shared with Sidekick until you say yes, and it sees only what the tool returns — your location list, never your shoppers.

If Sidekick doesn't know about Nearmio

Sidekick picks up new app tools some time after they are installed. If it answers as though Nearmio were not there, wait a while and try again, or just ask the question in the app's live chat instead.
