If you would rather fill in a spreadsheet, export the rows, fill in the file, and import it. The import makes draft changes: you still review and apply them, and nothing is written by the import itself.
Where
The grid's Import / Export CSV button opens the page for that kind of row. Choose your fields first: the page sends you to Choose fields when none is chosen.
Step 1: export
Press Export variants (or products, or orders). "Your file is being prepared" counts the rows, then "Your file is ready" offers the download.
The file holds the rows the grid lists, under the search and filters you had on, and the fields you chose as columns. Clear the search to export everything. A dimension, weight or volume takes two columns: the number, and its unit beside it.
Step 2: fill it in
Open the file in your spreadsheet, change the cells you want, and save it as CSV UTF-8 (comma delimited). Leave the ID column alone: rows are matched by it.
- A blank cell changes nothing. Delete the rows you did not touch if you like; the file is read faster.
- A column that is not one of your fields is ignored.
- The file may be up to 25 MB.
Step 3: import
Add or drop the file under Import the filled file. It is read at once and compared with your store. What differs becomes a draft change; a value already in your store changes nothing.
Then Review N changes opens the same Review changes page as the grid. Rows the file could not use are listed, with Download skipped rows. See Why rows in a file were skipped.
A file for the right kind of row
A products file added on the Variants page, or the other way round, is refused, with a link to the right page.
While something else runs
Both buttons are off while a change or a revert runs, and while this kind of row's own file is prepared or read.
