Metafields, by type
A metafield definition of one of these types can be chosen as a column:
- Single line text
- Multi-line text
- Integer
- Decimal
- True or false
- Dimension
- Weight
- Volume
A dimension, a weight or a volume is edited as a number with a unit picker. A true or false is Yes, No, or no value.
A definition of any other type, a list, a reference to a product or a file, a date, a URL, a colour, JSON, is listed under Fields that can't be edited here yet and cannot be ticked.
Shopify's own fields
Variants: Price, Compare-at price, Cost per item, SKU, Barcode, Weight, Country of origin, HS code, Track quantity, Continue selling when out of stock. A price cannot be cleared: Shopify refuses a blank one.
Products: Description, SEO title, SEO description, Tags. The description is edited as text: a new line is a line break, a blank line starts a paragraph. A description with other formatting, headings, images, bold, is shown but cannot be edited here; edit it on the product's page.
Orders: Note, Tags, PO number.
Tags are added and removed, never replaced
A change to tags is the tags you added and the tags you took off, not the product's whole list. A tag someone else put on the product is never written over. See Editing tags.
What the app does not do
- It creates no metafield definition. Make the definition in your Shopify admin, under Settings, Custom data, and it appears in Choose fields.
- It does not change a field's type.
- It does not edit customers, collections or locations.
